The Problem That Started It All

Like many developers and consultants, I spend a significant part of my day interacting with AI tools — ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Copilot. I use them for debugging, code reviews, writing documentation, and brainstorming solutions.

The problem? Every time I paste code, logs, or data to get help, I'm potentially exposing sensitive information. Customer emails, API keys, database credentials, internal hostnames, customer data... the list goes on.

I kept thinking: "There has to be a better way." I needed something that could automatically detect and redact sensitive data before it leaves my clipboard — something that works locally, keeps my data private, and doesn't require me to manually hunt through every line of text.

Why I Built PasteShield

In 2025, data breaches through AI tools became a real and growing concern. Companies like Samsung, Apple, and JPMorgan restricted AI usage due to confidential data leaking into training models. The risk is real — and it's not just about big corporations.

As a consultant, I work with various clients, each with their own data sensitivity requirements. The thought of accidentally pasting a client's sensitive information into an AI chat — where it might become part of training data or be stored indefinitely — was increasingly troubling.

So I built PasteShield: a client-side tool that detects 50+ types of sensitive data and automatically redacts them before you paste to any AI tool.

My Philosophy

What I Believe

I truly love technology and automation. I believe the best tools are the ones that solve real problems without adding complexity. PasteShield is built on that belief — it should protect you without getting in your way.

AI is an incredibly powerful tool for productivity. The last thing I want is for fear of data leaks to prevent people from using AI effectively. PasteShield bridges that gap — giving you the freedom to use AI confidently, knowing your sensitive data is protected.
